Malaysia Airlines Says Customer Data May Be Affected by Amadeus Data Breach

Malaysia Airlines, along with several other airlines—including Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, and Asiana Airlines—may be affected by a data breach involving the Amadeus booking platform.

It was recently reported that the flight booking platform experienced a data breach, which resulted in the exposure of airline customer data on the dark web. A number of airlines, including Malaysia Airlines, have been impacted.

Malaysia Airlines has issued a statement regarding the incident, noting that the data of customers who booked flights with the airline for the period between August 2023 and September 2026 may be affected. The matter is currently under investigation, and the specific details of the leaked data are not yet known.

Nevertheless, Malaysia Airlines has clarified that its own IT systems have not been compromised; the data breach originated from the Amadeus platform.

As a precautionary measure, Malaysia Airlines advises customers to remain vigilant against suspicious or unsolicited communications, especially those requesting personal or financial information.
