Elon Musk closed two Twitter offices in India after laying off 90% of his staff there. Those closed were offices in New Delhi and Mumbai. Now, only one office remains in India, in Bengaluru to be precise.
Company insiders say that during Elon Musk's ownership, Twitter has laid off more than 200 employees in India, that's 90% or more of the total staff. Last month, Twitter laid off employees in Dublin, Ireland and Singapore.
Elon Musk's reason for layoffs is called a cost efficiency measure. In total, the SpaceX and Tesla boss has laid off around 3,700 employees since November 2022.
However, Twitter has not responded or commented on the closure of this office in India. The same goes for layoffs by Elon Musk in various countries.
Elon Musk has received a lot of negative attention after making a termination that was considered 'inhumane'. One of the things that got excited was the case of the termination of the top engineer on Twitter because the engineer said that Musk's popularity had decreased.
"This is so ridiculous. I have over 100 million followers, and I only get tens of thousands of impressions," Musk told the employee, as quoted from Insider, Friday (17/2/2023).
