Viruses, Bacteria and Fungus, Which Is More Creepy?

After struggling strongly in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, humans can finally fight or at least suppress the spread or symptoms of the Sars-CoV-2 attack. We beat it with a vaccine.

However, recently there has been an uproar about the series 'The Last of Us' which was adapted from that game regarding the Cordyceps mushroom. The Cordyceps fungus, or rather Ophiocordyceps, is said to be able to infect humans and control zombie-like behavior. So which one is more dangerous?

Biological scientist from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Professor Rosichon Ubaidillah MPhil, PhD, conveyed in 'Eureka! 13th Edition: Zombie Attack!', Monday (30/1/2023), that actually every creature has the opportunity to harm humans.

"Everyone has the same dangerous chance, but I think the virus is more difficult to treat," he said.

"As an example, COVID-19 is very fast, the virus adapts more quickly and spreads faster than bacteria and fungi," he continued.

He gave an example of ophiocordyceps which in fact cannot live in humans whose temperature is hotter because it normally lives in an ant's body where the temperature is below 25 or 20 degrees Celsius.

"Humans are between 36 degrees Celsius, so it's impossible to live like that. (Viruses -- ed) are more adaptable than bacteria or fungi," he emphasized.
