As the world's number one music streaming platform, many users will surely want to enjoy the most complete catalog of songs on Spotify. But today hundreds of background music and songs from various Indian movies are no longer streamable through Spotify.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Zee Music which holds the intellectual rights to popular films like Bajirao Mastani, Gully Boy and Baar Baar Dekho has withdrawn its music catalog following a payment dispute with Spotify. Many music playlists are now empty or the song names are obscured because they are no longer accessible.
Spotify said it and Zee Music failed to reach an agreement on new licensing. Discussions are still ongoing to get an agreement that pleases both parties. Meanwhile for fans, they need to find an alternative streaming platform if they want to stream music under the Zee Music label.
