For printer owners, common issues are ink cartridges that have run out and become dry after not being used for a long time. To solve this first world problem, the HP+ service was announced to offer monthly ink cartridge subscriptions.
HP+ is a monthly ink subscription service with free cartridges for the first six months. Also on offer is a used cartridge recycling service, an extra warranty on the printer/scanner and extra features on the HP Smart app.
At this time H+ is only offered to customers in markets such as the United States. Although designed to secure ink cartridges, there have been customer reports of HP+ now having printers locked using a DRM system. Only genuine HP printer cartridges can be used with a connection to the Internet required at all times to ensure product authenticity.
