As a social media for professional users, LinkedIn is a popular place to expand your network of contacts and find work. But on social media verification of real identity can be difficult because anyone can impersonate. LinkedIn is now introducing two new features that will make using the site safer.
The first feature is user identity verification. With this if a job offer is received by the user, they can verify that it is offered by a real company or staff who actually work in the organization. Verification is done via official workplace email or using Microsoft Entra. LinkedIn has been testing this feature for the past month but is only now rolling it out to everyone.
The second feature is a warning message in the form of fraud or scam. LinkedIn will identify the message sent if it resembles a scam that has been reported before. Messages deemed risky will not appear on the message timeline. If the message is safe the user can mark it as safe.
