Malaysia's Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil has now stated that the Telegram messaging service has failed to cooperate with the Malaysian government on a number of matters, despite trying to contact the government since last January.
The government stated that no response has been received until today, and the government will take the next step against the Telegram platform.
The Ministry of Communications and Digital stated that it has received various complaints involving Telegram, especially misuse involving pornographic content, fraud and scams, as well as the sale of illegal goods.
Fahmi Fadzil says that Telegram is not sincere in cooperating with the government. It was also emphasized that, compared to TikTok and other platforms, Telegram is the most worrying for now.
Telegram has previously been seen several times not cooperating with the authorities in dealing with the crime problem that occurs on their platform, including last year Telegram was denied access in Brazil for not responding - and then Telegram's founders gave the reason they did not respond because they had problems with email.
