TP-7 Is A Vintage Style Digital Recording Tape By Teenage Engineering

I love seeing modern gadgets that use vintage designs. It looks unique, different from other products and sometimes gives me a chance to try it because I never and can't use the original product.

Teenage Engineering, a partner of Nothing for Ear (1), is an audio product company that designs their products with a vintage design. The latest is the TP-7 which is a vintage style digital tape recorder (voice recorder only?) with mechanical buttons and great functionality.

The TP-7 is claimed to have good microphone quality for voice, music or interview recording. This product has 3x 3.5mm audio jack ports for input/output, 1x 6.35mm headphone output, 24-bit/96kHz audio support, 128GB internal storage, 7-hour battery with USB-C charging and special application to convert audio to text specifically for iOS. Also available is a small screen displaying recording duration and file name.

This vintage-looking digital tape recorder also has many mechanical buttons that mimic real tape. For example, all the buttons are designed to be operated with one hand and naturally each finger bokeh presses important buttons such as forward/reverse, quick recording, large button for record/play/pause, volume adjustment button for the built-in speaker and the plate in the middle that will move when the recording is played and the user can rotate to advance/rewind the audio or even pause with the sound effect of the recording moving at a fast pace.

Every Teenage Engineering purchase will also include an adapter for 6.35mm to 3.5mm. The selling price is $1499 which is around RM6707.
