Security Vulnerability On 364 Gigabyte Motherboards Puts 7 Million Owners At Risk

Security firm Eclypsium published a report they discovered a security vulnerability in the form of a backdoor in Gigabyte's motherboard firmware. This involves 364 Gigabyte motherboard models and puts more than 7 million owners at risk.



Vulnerabilities in the form of UEFI bootkits that are launched when the computer is restarted. It will then remain in the BIOS causing the computer system to remain infected even if the drive is deleted and the operating system is reinstalled. Gigabyte has been contacted about this vulnerability. A firmware patch has been provided to patch the vulnerability.
