Last year, Germany reportedly would not ban Huawei's 5G telecommunications equipment. Previous reports also stated that in Germany there is 59% of 5G RAN equipment by Huawei. Recently, Germany's Federal Minister of the Interior and Society, Nancy Faeser, stated that Germany will also remove Huawei and ZTE's 5G equipment regardless of the cost.
Faeser did not say when Germany would start it. According to him, telecommunications companies need time to transition to other infrastructure. Not forgetting that changing equipment from Huawei to other brands will cost money.
In the UK the cost of replacing Huawei's telecommunications equipment cost £4 billion even though its use is lower than in Germany. German rail network supervisor Deutsche Bahn has previously estimated the cost of replacing their equipment alone has reached €400 million.
Malaysia is one of the countries that is still neutral regarding the use of Huawei and ZTE 5G components. The government has not intervened if it is used in the country's 5G network equipment next year even after receiving security risk warnings from the United States and the EU.
