The Ministry of Communications and Digital has now shared that Malaysia has now recorded a 5G service subscription rate of 3.6 million subscriptions. this simultaneously shows the 5G usage rate reaching around 10.8%, based on data as of October 31, 2023.
For now, there are a number of users of 4G telecommunication services who do not subscribe to 5G plans because they have to make additional payments. The government has stated that they are in discussion with the telecommunications company to overcome the matter.
In addition, the government also stated that the 5G coverage rate at the end of October had reached a rate of 73% - at the same time remaining 7% before it recorded the target figure of 80% set by the government for the year 2023.
