YouTube Slows Playing Videos If Ad Blocker Is Installed

Yesterday there were reports of users realizing that videos on YouTube are slow to play if using the Firefox web browser. The detected code shows users need to wait up to five seconds if using Firefox but not on Chrome. But in a reply to Android Authority, YouTube said they only slow down video playback if it detects an ad blocker (adBlock) is installed.

According to them again it has nothing to do with the browser but simply a measure taken to avoid users installing ad blockers. Users who experience a less than optimal video viewing experience on YouTube are advised to uninstall ad blockers or subscribe to YouTube Premium.

Previously YouTube confirmed they will start blocking their content from being accessed by users who block ads. It started by only allowing up to three videos to be watched without ads before being blocked a few months ago.
