One of the things that surprised many over the last few months was when Delivery Hero said they were looking at the possibility of selling FoodPanda's operations and business in the Southeast Asian region. Since then, several parties have speculated that FoodPanda may be taken over, and the hot name said to be Grab.
According to the latest reports now, it is said that the discussions between Grab and FoodPanda will take longer, and maybe if successful, any transaction will be announced in early 2024.
It is said that the discussion stopped for a while because both parties did not agree on the value of FoodPanda itself. According to the Business Times report, Grab considers the selling price of FoodPanda's operation to be too high.
For now, both Grab and FoodPanda have not released any comments regarding this matter. In addition to selling price, this takeover transaction is also expected to receive the attention of many parties, including competition and monopoly by the authorities in Singapore and Malaysia.
