South Korean news outlet The Elec has reported that Samsung Display is now restructuring its microOLED division for mixed reality devices and its foldable screen division. It is said to be an early preparation strategy for these two categories of devices to flood the market soon.
Samsung Display is said to also strengthen the team that will handle Apple's foldable devices, reshaping the team that does the development of small and medium-sized device screens. The Elec also added that Samsung is currently developing a 20.5-inch OLED screen for Apple to compete with LG Display which is also trying to win a contract to be an Apple supplier.
Devices with Apple's foldable screen such as the MacBook are expected to arrive only in 2026. While some say that an Apple foldable device will arrive as early as 2025. Let's wait and see who will be the real supplier. Is it Samsung, LG or BOE?
