SOCSO Hacked And Public Data Leaked Online

SOCSO confirmed that they had been hacked since last Saturday but their operations were not affected due to this cyber attack. The results of PERKESO's preliminary research also found that the validity of the data stolen by hackers is highly doubtful, incomplete and has already expired. This is because a cluster of stolen data has never been observed by SOCSO since this agency was established in October 1971. The attack last Saturday was also not the first time their system was attacked with the last time an attempt was made in September but was successfully defeated.

Original news below.

SOCSO's website was allegedly hacked by a group calling themselves Rupert_Group. People's data that was successfully stolen was shared on a forum that has a reputation for being where stolen databases have been shared before.

Rupert_Group has shared that they hacked SOCSO earlier this month which caused the operation of the official site to be disrupted. Then on December 5, some of the stolen data was shared on a forum. On December 6, the link to download all the stolen data was shared again by Rupert_Group. They also shared a video on YouTube which was claimed to be a recording of a discussion carried out by SOCSO after realizing that their system had been hacked.

Among the data we have seen successfully stolen are full name, MyKad number, gender, email address, residential address and some banking transactions. According to The Star, SOCSO will release an official statement on this hacker attack.
