TikTok Expected To Announce Cooperation Agreement And Investment In Tokopedia As Early As Next Week

TikTok Shop is already banned in Indonesia, and TikTok is now looking at various methods to re-enter the market which has more than 300 million people. It was previously reported that TikTok is in discussions with Tokopedia for cooperation and investment.

Although there is no official information at the moment, it is said that TikTok may take a small stake in Tokopedia, and then gradually increase the stake after that. In any case, it is still subject to the approval of the local authorities – and it is also possible for the two entities to work together and form a new joint venture company.

In addition to Tokopedia, TikTok is also said to be in talks with a number of other industry players, including Bukalapak and Blibli. TikTok previously aimed to boost revenue through e-commerce in the region – but with the ban in Indonesia, their ambitions have been undermined.

It is not impossible that we also see governments in other countries taking similar steps to ensure that TikTok also invests in their respective countries while also benefiting the local ecosystem. Let's all look forward to what Bytedance or TikTok will announce as early as next week.
