News reading app Artifact was announced in January last year by former Instagram founder Kevin Systrom. Still after a year, Atrifact announced that their application will stop operating at the end of February.
Systrom said the market opportunity is not large enough to warrant continued investment in Artifact. At this point users can no longer leave comments and new submissions in the application. What makes Artifact different from other news aggregator apps is that it uses AI to rewrite headlines labeled as clickbait to display more accurate headlines. Users can also report any news that they feel is clickbait.
Systrom hasn't said what he will do next but the team that developed Artifact will be disbanded.
