Netflix today made a surprise, and announced a partnership with WWE to show a number of WWE content exclusively through their streaming platform. Starting in January 2025, WWE Raw will be shown exclusively on Netflix in several countries on a weekly basis.
It will be followed by a number of special content such as SmackDown, NXT, Wreslte Mania, SummerSlam, and Royal Rumble. In addition, a number of series and documentaries related to WWE will also be shown exclusively on Netflix.
This move also shows Netflix's shift in adding content in the form of weekly live series to their platform. Although WWE is not categorized as a sport, this could be a starting point before Netflix starts adding a number of other sports content.
The introduction of the WWE content series on Netflix is expected to start from the United States, and expand to other countries internationally, according to licensing and so on.
