The World's Tallest Twin Track Ferris Wheel Will Be Built In Korea

The world's tallest twin-track Ferris wheel will be operating in South Korea as early as 2028. The Seoul Twin Eye project will be built in Sangam World Cup Park, Seoul starting next year. It uses one track on the outside and another on the "wheel" side that does not have a hub like a typical Ferris wheel design.

Originally this project was known as Seoul Eye which we reported last year but the final design with a double track was chosen involving the collaboration of UNStudio, Arup, and Heerim Architecture. It has 64 pods that can accommodate up to 25 passengers at a time. A total of 1400 passengers can be carried simultaneously. The design takes inspiration from the Honcheonsigye astronomical clock built in the 17th century during the Joseon Dynasty.

Seoul Twin Eye will reach a height of 220 meters when completed which will also make it the second tallest in the world after Ain Dubai which is 250 meters high. However, Ain Dubai has not been operating since March 2022 due to various structural issues that still cannot be resolved.
