This morning it went viral on social media with a screenshot showing the value of $1 United States equivalent to RM6.24 which jumped up compared to around RM4.60 the previous day. There are some rumors that Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is doing stabilization to return the value of Ringgit to around RM4.70 now. A while ago, BNM issued a statement denying that this action had been taken.
On the other hand, the display of the Dollar to Ringgit value on the Google Search page earlier was inaccurate due to a mistake made by Google. The value of the ringgit never plunged to RM6.45 as claimed. BNM reminds the public to be careful before sharing inaccurate information on social media.
