Microsoft Will Remove WordPad Through Windows 11 Update 24H2

Microsoft has now announced that they will remove the built-in WordPad software from all editions of Windows, through the Windows 11 (24H2) update that will be offered later this year. WordPad has previously been offered since Windows 95, offering the facility for users to easily open .doc and .rtf documents even without any other document software installed.

With this removal as well, it will make users no longer have any installed software that comes built in to access .RTF documents on Windows.

Microsoft asks users to use Microsoft Word or Notepad to continue accessing text documents after removing WordPad.
