New AMD Strix Point APU Model Name Leaked Via ASUS Product List

Yesterday, we reported that the list of ASUS laptop models that will use the new 240W power adapter was leaked via their own website. Recently, another new piece of information seems to have leaked again through this brand.

AMD is expected to showcase their Strix Point and Hawk Point series of processing chips that use Zen 5 processing chip technology soon. Just like Intel, the Strix Point series of chips will apparently see a change in terms of model names for the series.

Through a screenshot taken from the ASUS website, the ASUS Vivobook S 16 OLED laptop series to be launched by them will use the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 processing chip.

This name change is like signaling that AMD is serious about entering the artificial intelligence processing arena. Strix Point is their processing chip with its own artificial intelligence processor called Ryzen AI.

So far, this branding has only been shown on Strix Point SKUs first, where Hawk Point, although it also uses Zen 5 technology, will still retain the AMD Ryzen 8040 branding, such as the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS.

AMD is expected to show these two APU series during the COMPUTEX Taipei event that will take place in early June.
