OpenAI Expected to Announce Google Search Engine Competitors Early Next Week

OpenAI is now reported to be announcing support for web search powered by artificial intelligence as early as next week, at the same time positioning OpenAI in competition not only involving Google, but also Microsoft Bing.

If true, it may put a little pressure on Google who is ready to schedule the Google I/O event next week.

OpenAI search products are expected to be developed on top of ChatGPT, enabling ChatGPT to search for information on the web, and display it to users. This may also give an advantage to the ChatGPT offering which was previously often criticized for providing information using old data.

In the same arena, one of the popular companies is Perplexity, which uses search support powered by artificial intelligence, and has around 10 million active users.
