The Government Has No Plans To Mandate The Installation Of Dashboard Cameras For Vehicles

The Minister of Transport has now informed that the government has no plans to mandate the installation of dashboard cameras or "dashcams" on all vehicles in Malaysia. However, the government encourages the installation of dashboard cameras, especially for new vehicles directly from the manufacturer.

With new vehicles directly from the manufacturer installing a dashboard camera, it will be convenient for the user and there is no need to incur any additional costs for it.

In addition, the Minister of Transport also encouraged bus operators to install dashboard cameras on buses, which can then be used to record and be used as evidence in the event of a road accident. It will also make it easier to find out who is at fault and who needs to be held accountable.

Sharing further, according to statistical data, around 15 to 17 people die every day on average due to road accidents.
