AMD Ryzen 9000 Series Chips With Zen 5 CPUs Announced For Desktop



In addition to the Ryzen AI 300 series chips, the AMD Ryzen 9000 series chips were also announced for desktop PCs with it also using the new generation Zen 5 CPU. According to AMD, the Ryzen 9000 series will offer higher performance improvements at lower power but the node used was not disclosed but it is most likely TSMC's 4nm.



AMD Ryzen 9000 remains with AM5 socket, PCIe Gen5 support, DDR5 memory, USB4, and WiFi 7. Complete details of the first four chips launched are as below. All four will go on sale starting next July. According to AMD, the Ryzen 9 9950X is currently the most powerful desktop chip on the market.

Also announced at this morning's event was that the AM5 socket will now be supported until 2027. Originally the socket introduced in 2022 will only be supported until 2025.
