China Will Be The First Country To Return Samples From The Far Side Of The Moon To Earth

China will be the first country to successfully return samples from the surface of the far side of the moon back to Earth. The Chang'e 6 probe landed on the surface last Saturday and began drilling samples from the moon's surface.

At this time the container containing the sample has been successfully launched from the surface of the moon to be met by the spacecraft which will then return it to earth. If all goes well, the first sample from the far side of the moon will land in Inner Mongolia next June 25.

In 2019, China became the first country to successfully land a probe on the far side of the moon through the Chang'e 4 mission. The samples collected will help scientists study the origin of the formation of the moon and also indirectly the formation of the earth.
