I almost switched to Spotify after they announced their new DJ AI, but stayed loyal to YouTube Music because in Malaysia this DJ feature is not offered. YouTube Music is free with a YouTube Premium subscription and most recently, a feature asking AI to generate playlists has been introduced.
If Google Photos has Ask Photos, YouTube Music has Ask Music. This feature uses generative AI technology, perhaps Gemini because of the same AI icon to process ideas or promos given by the user into a special playlist radio. Prom accepted are simple texts such as 80s inspired indie, Dreamy synthpop, Saddest songs or easy to understand sentences. After it generates, the first song will continue to play automatically and this generated playlist can be directly saved to the user's library.
This playlist or radio can also be shared with the public. This feature is said to require a YouTube Premium subscription and English language settings. It can be used by everyone, but the feature is rolled out gradually from country to country starting with Android devices.
