The HMD Barbie Flip Phone 4G was launched at the end of August with it matching the iconic pink color design of the Barbie character with the design of the retro valve device that was popular in the early 2000s. This device has finally been launched in Malaysia at a price of RM699.
HMD partnered with Mattel to introduce this phone targeting consumers who want to break free from a modern smartphone with no apps.
It can simply make phone calls, send SMS, and take pictures using a 0.3MP camera. Even the special operating system Barbie OS provides themes on the interface, ringtones, feature icons, background images and some hidden Easter Egg features. The outer panel has a glossy finish allowing it to be used as a mirror.
The device comes with a 1.77″ screen on the outside and 2.8″ on the inside, powered by a Unisoc T107 chip, 64MB of RAM, 128MB of storage with 32GB micro SD support and a 1450 mAh battery that offers 9 hours of talk time. There's also a 3.5mm audio jack, speakers and USB-C charging.
