It was only a few months ago when Indonesia's IT infrastructure was hacked by a ransomware attack that rendered a large number of government services inoperable. Recently, the country has been rocked by another serious hacking issue that seems to be affecting the country's taxation services.
Bloomberg has reported that Indonesia has now been hacked again, and now, personal details such as the tax IDs of six million citizens of the country have been stolen, including for the country's President, Joko Widodo, future vice president Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and others - other.
These details can reportedly be seen on BreachForums, where a lot of hacked data is floating around that can be bought at a price set by anyone. Hacked details include ID numbers, email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers and various other personal details. This data is apparently being sold for 150 million Rupiah.
This hack was discovered by Teguh Aprianto, the founder of Ethical Hackers Indonesia who reported it to the local authorities. It seems that the government is also verifying whether this hack really contains the details it says or not.
