Huawei has recently introduced an update to the Harmony operating system that powers its smart devices, which will no longer use Android support, as well as apps developed for Android. This will lead to the development of apps that are optimized specifically for Harmony OS.
During the introduction, Huawei said that there are currently over 15,000 apps developed for Harmony. Moving forward, Huawei is seen investing heavily in ecosystem development, and aims to reach over 100,000 apps in the next 6 to 12 months.
In addition to app developers in China, Huawei has also begun approaching app developers outside of China. Previously, Huawei has stated that Grab is developing apps for Harmony.
