Yesterday, OpenAI's Sora artificial intelligence (AI) was illegally leaked via the Hugging Faces site by a group that processes its use to replace creative workers. In a statement posted on Hugging Faces, the leakers insisted that artists are not employees who are used to do development and research for free. They also want the exploitation of artists by multi-billion dollar companies to stop.
Also criticized are the artists who were given early access to Sora to promote and whitewash OpenAI, which is currently being sued by artists and writers for using their works to train an AI model without any compensation. It also received criticism from the CEO of YouTube who said that Sora was trained using their site data, which violated the terms and conditions set.
A few hours after Sora was leaked to Hugging Faces, access to this model was blocked by OpenAI according to a report by The Washington Post. But before it was stopped, several videos generated using Sora were uploaded to social media such as X and Threads this morning.
