Samsung is very committed to offering long-term updates for their products. This makes Samsung devices now more worth owning. Most recently, the Galaxy Watch4 series, a smartwatch that was launched 3 years ago, has started receiving the latest Wear OS 5 update.
Awful. Why? There are not many smartwatches in the Malaysian market that have continued to receive updates for more than 2 years other than the Apple Watch. The Pixel Watch 3, TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro and many more are still running Wear OS 3 or Wear OS 4. The two watches that received this update are the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic.
This update brings a cleaner interface design, promises better performance and security, and some integration of Samsung Health features that are already offered on the Galaxy Watch7. For now, those who receive this update are those using One UI 6 Beta on their respective Samsung devices.
This Wear OS 5 with One UI 6 Watch also comes with the October 2024 security patch. It is expected that other Samsung watches will also receive this update in the near future in stages.
