YouTube Lite Plan Launched at a More Affordable Price

The YouTube Premium Lite plan has finally launched today after weeks of rumors. It is priced at $7.99 per month, which is cheaper than the current $13.99 for the Premium plan. The difference is that Premium Lite subscribers will not be served ads on the majority of videos they watch. Ads will be displayed on content such as music videos, for example.

The ability to download videos and play videos in the background is also still only available to Premium subscribers. The Premium Lite plan simply reduces the display of ads on YouTube, which is now becoming more and more common.

At this time, Premium Lite is only offered in the United States. YouTube will then expand it to Australia, Germany and Thailand in just a few weeks. Premium Lite is still a test product at the time and there is no information on when it will be offered to all markets.
