EA Lays Off Up to 400 Employees and Cancels New Titanfall Game

The video game industry is experiencing a dark era with thousands of industry players being laid off to reduce costs. The latest report from Bloomberg shows that Electronic Arts has laid off between 300-400 employees and at the same time canceled the development of several projects including the new Titanfall.

The second round of layoffs comes after more than 600 employees were laid off a year ago. This time, the Respawn Entertainment studio was affected by more than 100 employees being laid off. The cancellation of the new Titanfall game by Respawn is also very regrettable because it is highly anticipated by fans who have been waiting for the sequel to Titanfall 2 since 2016.

The increasing cost of game development but unsatisfactory sales have caused many studios to suffer losses. This year also saw the Monolith studio that developed the Shadow of Mordor series being closed under a cost-cutting program by Warner Bros. Games.
