Gaming laptops currently combine X86 CPUs with AMD or NVIDIA GPUs. This is a solid combination that Apple Silicon or Snapdragon X chips have yet to match. Today, a report from United Daily News emerged that said Alienware gaming laptops will arrive by the end of this year or early 2026 with NVIDIA-made APUs based on Arm.
The APUs will combine MediaTek CPUs and NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. Today's news only confirms a leaked report last year about Dell and NVIDIA's collaboration with ARM chips that will be equipped with Cortex X5 BlackHawk CPU cores and are made using 3nm technology
This year, NVIDIA has already collaborated with MediaTek to produce a GB10 chip for Project DIGITS that combines a 20-core ARM-based CPU with an NVIDIA Blackwell GPU. So producing an APU for gaming laptops is a sensible move at this point.
For gaming enthusiasts, the launch of this APU is certainly awaited because it will make ARM a platform comparable to X86. Although the Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip has high CPU power, gaming performance is still less than satisfactory due to the GPU being less compatible with various video games.
