Garmin has launched several new models in the Forerunner smartwatch series including the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970. Despite being in the same series, both feature their own uniqueness with different key features.
In terms of design, the Forerunner 570 is equipped with an aluminum bezel and a screen measuring 1.2 inches for the 42mm model and 1.4 inches for the 47mm model. On the other hand, the Forerunner 970 is only available in one size, which is 47mm. The Forerunner 570 weighs 50g, while the Forerunner 970 is slightly heavier at 56g.
The Forerunner 570 (47mm) battery can last up to 10 days in smartwatch mode and 13 hours in GPS mode. For the 42mm model, the battery lasts up to 13 days in smartwatch mode and 14 hours in GPS mode. Meanwhile, the Forerunner 970 offers longer battery life, up to 15 days in smartwatch mode and 21 hours in GPS mode.
In terms of functionality, both models are equipped with a speaker and microphone for voice calls. In addition, it supports health and fitness monitoring, including Triathlon Coach training plans, customized multisport workouts, skin temperature monitoring and finish line prediction.
However, the Forerunner 970 has some additional advantages such as ECG monitoring via the app and a built-in dawn light. The price of the Forerunner 570 is RM2,399 while the Forerunner 970 is priced at RM3,269. Both models are expected to be available from 18 June 2025.
