The Honor 400 Pro features a modern design that highlights a combination of glass and metal materials that give it a premium feel when held. The camera module is neatly arranged on the upper left of the rear panel to create a balanced visual layout.
The rear panel uses a matte finish that not only adds a stylish touch, but also works to reduce fingerprints. The device is offered in four color options such as Lunar Grey, Desert Gold, Tidal Blue, and Midnight Black to meet the tastes of various users.
In terms of dimensions, the Honor 400 Pro comes with a thickness of 8.1mm and weighs around 205 grams. Although a little heavy, its ergonomic design with curved side frames ensures a comfortable grip, even when used with one hand. The layout of buttons and ports is also designed to be within easy reach, making this device user-friendly for daily use.
The power button and audio controls are located on the right side of the device, while the left side is left empty to maintain a clean and minimalist design. In terms of audio, the Honor 400 Pro is equipped with a stereo speaker system with one on the top and another on the bottom to provide a more balanced and immersive sound experience.
The audio quality is clear and pleasant to listen to with a satisfying boom for most users. However, the level of sound balance may not be on par with some other devices I have used before. The bottom also houses the USB-C port and SIM slot, which are neatly arranged for easier access.
If you like smartphones with large and bright screens, the Honor 400 Pro will definitely not disappoint. It features a 6.7-inch display with small curves on all four sides to provide a wide visual experience. Whether used for watching videos or browsing social media, this screen feels immersive and comfortable to hold.
The Honor 400 Pro's screen design is also good at minimizing visual distractions on the sides, making it more user-friendly. This is in contrast to the fully curved screen on the previous Honor 200 model which sometimes resulted in content being cut off on the sides.
In daily use, this screen feels easier to use. It is comfortable to type with two hands and is compatible with screen protectors. The colors on the display also look bright and vivid even when used outdoors or in sunlight. Therefore, the daily experience is more enjoyable whether used to watch videos, reply to messages or play light games during leisure time.
Throughout daily use, the transitions on the screen feel smooth, whether when scrolling through images, reading messages or playing games. In addition, this device is also suitable for those who are active because it is equipped with an IP69 rating. This can provide peace of mind when used in open areas without worrying about splashes of water or dust.
Device Performance – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chip
The Honor 400 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, and this provides a significant performance improvement compared to the Honor 200 Pro which uses a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip. Although this chip belongs to the flagship class, the device is still offered in the mid-premium category. This makes it an attractive option for users who want high performance without having to pay the price of a flagship phone.
In daily use, this device feels smooth and responsive. Apps open quickly, and switching between apps is smooth without any lag. When used for everyday tasks such as checking emails, browsing social media or simple photo editing, performance is consistent and satisfying. For gamers, the experience also feels stable with the device's temperature remaining under control even after several rounds of gaming. The speed of this chip makes daily use feel smoother and more enjoyable whether for work or play.

As usual, I tested the Honor 400 Pro’s performance with a few popular games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Honor of Kings, and Temple Run. Throughout the gaming session, the device showed very stable and smooth performance. For Mobile Legends and Honor of Kings, the graphics settings could be adjusted to high and the games ran at a stable 60FPS without any noticeable performance drops. Animations looked smooth, response times were fast, and there were no overheating issues even after several rounds of gameplay.
Meanwhile, games like Temple Run also ran well at full FPS. Touch responses remained accurate and responsive, which is very important for games that rely on the user’s quick reactions. The 120Hz refresh rate screen also adds to the smoothness of gaming.
Device Software – MagicOS 9.0 Based on Android 15
Honor 400 Pro uses the MagicOS 9.0 operating system based on Android 15, which is complete with various AI-based features to facilitate daily use. Among the interesting features is AI Smart Folder, which automatically organizes applications by category for faster and more organized access. Also offered is AI Summary, which makes it easier for users to understand long documents by producing smart summaries.
Completing this experience, AI Suggestions recommends applications or settings based on daily usage patterns. For example, when the device is charging at night, the system will automatically activate sleep mode and dim the screen without the need for manual adjustments. There are also AI Notes and AI Minutes that can automatically summarize and organize important content. The AI Document feature also makes it easy for users to compare documents, build mind maps, and answer questions related to content quickly and efficiently.
For image editing, AI Magic Photo Editor allows users to easily remove unwanted objects, restore old photos, and add filters. AI Image to Video converts images into creative short videos, while AI Eraser and AI Cutout provide precise control over separating subjects from the background.
In addition, AI Translator supports real-time translation in either one-way or two-way. Security features are also enhanced with AI Deepfake Detection, which can detect video manipulation during a call to add a layer of protection to digital communications.
However, the device also comes with a number of bloatware that may not be relevant to all users. However, most of them can be easily uninstalled or hidden via system settings.
Device Camera System – 200MP Super Sensing
The Honor 400 Pro comes with a high-tech camera system consisting of three rear lenses, namely a 200MP Super Sensing wide-angle main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens that is also equipped with OIS. The front camera is equipped with a 50MP sensor with intelligent processing to produce clear and balanced selfie portraits.
In terms of software, the Honor 400 Pro is equipped with various modern photography features. Among them is Harcourt Portrait 2.0, a special portrait mode inspired by professional studio lighting. This version uses intelligent technology to more accurately identify faces and lighting.
As a result, portrait photos look as if they were taken in a professional studio with balanced skin tones and deep, stunning shadows. The phone also supports retro film-style visual effects, ideal for fans of classic styles. In addition, the AI Portrait Snap feature can automatically identify faces and expressions to capture natural-looking and spontaneous portraits.
For video recording, the Honor 400 Pro supports resolutions as high as 4K 30FPS complete with a built-in stabilization system to ensure stable recordings. Recording formats in ratios up to 16:9 are also provided, suitable for a variety of visual content needs from casual vlogs to professional filming.
Device Image Quality
The image quality on the Honor 400 Pro depends on the three main color modes offered. Original mode provides neutral and natural colors, suitable for users who value true color accuracy. Although colors may appear slightly faded, this mode gives users the freedom to edit images according to their taste and desired mood.
Original
Vibrance
Vibrance Mode also increases color saturation and contrast, producing brighter, sharper, and more prominent images. More vibrant colors make photos look more attractive and suitable for sharing directly on social media without the need for editing. This mode is sure to be loved by users who like bright and vibrant images.
Authentic
Meanwhile, Authentic Mode features a darker and deeper color palette compared to Vibrance Mode for a more dramatic and cinematic visual effect. It is perfect for users who prioritize artistic elements and want images that appear different and unique. Although the color tone is darker and denser, the resulting images are still suitable for uploading without the need for complicated editing.
For long-distance shooting, the Honor 400 Pro is equipped with an effective zoom system. However, without the help of filters or additional features, enlarged images tend to lose sharpness, especially at the edges. This happens because when the image is zoomed in, fine details begin to blur due to the loss of pixel clarity.
To ensure clearer and sharper results, users are advised to activate the AI Zoom function which can help maintain overall image sharpness. This feature is very useful especially for users who often shoot subjects from a distance as it is able to maintain fine details better than conventional zoom systems.
Portrait Mode on the Honor 400 offers high-quality image results, but there are several technical aspects that deserve attention. If the background lighting is too bright, it can affect the quality of the image as excessive light may cause details on the subject's face to be lost.
However, the resulting skin tones still look natural, even without the use of the AI Portrait Enhance function in Harcourt 2.0. This allows users to get quality portrait photos without having to rely too much on artificial intelligence technology.
When AI Portrait Enhance is activated, skin tones can be maintained more consistently, while adding a touch of beauty without sacrificing the originality of the image. The final result looks like it was taken in a professional studio environment, especially when combined with the Harcourt filter which makes it easy for users to share photos without the need for additional editing.
The post-capture process on the Honor 400 Pro takes a little longer to produce the final image but the performance still outperforms the Lite version. Although the processing time in portrait mode is slightly longer than in regular photo mode, it does not negatively impact the overall user experience.
For users who are more concerned with speed, you may have to wait a few seconds for the image to be fully processed. However, the final result is satisfying as every detail in the image is carefully processed to ensure the highest quality in terms of sharpness, color and contrast.
Battery and Device Charging
The Honor 400 Pro comes with a 6,000mAh Si/C battery which is a significant increase from the 5,200mAh on the Honor 200 Pro. This device is capable of recording a Screen-On Time (SOT) of up to almost 14 hours to ensure uninterrupted use throughout the day.
It also supports up to 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, and is equipped with a reverse charging function that allows other devices to be easily charged through this phone. With this charger, the device can reach around 50% charge in just 15 minutes, 90% in 30 minutes and 100% full in less than 40 minutes.

Conclusion
The Honor 400 Pro is a balanced choice for users who prioritize a combination of productivity, performance, and modern design, complete with a touch of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. It is ideal for individuals looking for a versatile smartphone to support an active and efficient daily lifestyle.
However, the device still has some shortcomings to consider. These include the presence of bulky applications that may not be relevant to all users, as well as the 100W charging performance that does not remain fully at maximum levels, as the power will be automatically reduced after a certain period of time.
In addition, the battery life, although adequate, does not provide a huge advantage over major competitors, and some AI functions are also still not really stand out compared to other brands in the same price category.
Overall, the Honor 400 Pro is a good choice for users who value smart features, comfortable use, and an attractive design. The phone offers solid value overall, but there are still a few small compromises that may bother some users depending on what they want.
