Every year, Microsoft will show a new major update to their Microsoft Windows operating system, usually named with the year number and accompanied by the name H2 to indicate that it was announced in the second half of the year, for example Windows 11 24H2 last year.
Recently, Microsoft has finally confirmed that the major update for their Windows 11 operating system will be named 25H2, and will be shown around the third to fourth quarter of this year, approximately in September or October 2025.
Although this update will only be officially introduced to users of the Windows 11 operating system in those months, users of the Windows Insider Program can already start trying out the features and see the new changes to the operating system through the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.4452 update.
Microsoft also confirmed that the Windows 11 25H2 update will follow the same pattern as previous years, with smaller download sizes and gradual rollouts. The 25H2 source code is based on the same source code as last year's 24H2, which is said to help with the update process.
Windows 11 25H2 is expected to come with a number of new features, including updates to the Start Menu and integration of CoPilot+ artificial intelligence into more functions of the operating system.
The Windows 11 25H2 update is also seen as marking the end of Microsoft's official support for the Windows 10 operating system on October 14, unless you use the Windows Backup backup service, which will keep your computer supported for another year.
