Qualcomm is expected to introduce its flagship processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, at the Snapdragon Summit event around September, but recently, some details about the chip have leaked onto the web.
The leak came via the Digital Chat Station channel on Weibo, which often shares details of components of devices that have not yet been launched. The channel initially said that the benchmark scores for this processor will come with scores exceeding 4000 points for single-core benchmarks, and 11,000 for multi-core scores.
Now, they say that the main core (prime core) of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor can reach speeds exceeding 5GHz when overclocked, which is seen as higher compared to the previous model.
However, these speeds were achieved to test the maximum capabilities of the processor chip, and will not necessarily be listed as official overclocking speeds as Qualcomm will still want to ensure that the performance of this processor chip is in line with the device's electrical power/battery usage so that devices using this chip do not run out of battery too early.
However, it seems to at least confirm that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will come with more robust performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is already seen as a very powerful smartphone processor chip.
