WhatsApp Develops Ad Preferences Function to Control the Types of Ads That Will Be Displayed in Status



WhatsApp is developing a new function that allows users to control the types of ads displayed (Ad Preferences) in the status and channel sections (Channel). This function is still in development and is expected to be introduced through an upcoming application update.


Through this feature, users can review a list of ads that have been displayed complete with information such as the date of their display. In addition, they can also choose to hide ads from certain advertisers if they feel irrelevant or annoying.


If users change their mind in the future, they are also given the option to restore the hidden ads. All these functions will be provided in the updates tab and can be accessed through the main settings of the application.


Last week, WhatsApp introduced a new feature related to ads. However, they emphasized that all messages, voice and video calls, and status updates remain fully protected through an end-to-end encryption system.


In addition, WhatsApp also assured that users' personal information will not be used for advertising purposes. Instead, ad matching will be made based on general data such as city location, application language, and user interaction patterns with previous ads.
