Instagram has long allowed users to use avatars as an alternative to profile pictures. Now, WhatsApp is also testing a similar feature in its latest update that allows users to add avatars to their profiles.
With this feature, users can display avatars alongside their profile photos, which can be activated through a special setting in the avatar section. Before adding an avatar, they need to choose the appropriate background color and avatar animation to make it more attractive.
When someone views the profile of a user using an avatar, they will also see a coin-shaped animation effect that rotates between the actual profile photo and the avatar. The concept is similar to what is offered on Instagram.
The feature is available to a select number of beta users with the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android. It is expected to be available to more users in the coming weeks.
