YouTube App No Longer Supported on 8 iPhone and iPad Models

YouTube is the world's largest video streaming app, with over 20 trillion videos and 20 million new videos uploaded daily. But for owners of 8 Apple devices, the YouTube app is no longer usable after it was updated. YouTube version 20.22.1, which was released four days ago, only supports devices running at least iOS 16.0 and iPadOS 16.0.

This means that the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone SE Gen 1 (2016), iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 and iPod touch 7 can no longer use the latest version of the app, as they are still running iOS 15. Apple has only provided security patch updates for all of these devices.

If you are the owner of a device that still wants to stream YouTube, you can only do so using a web browser such as Safari or Chrome. And if you're still using an iPhone 6s, congratulations on being a patient diehard user considering this smartphone is almost 10 years old. This week also saw WhatsApp end support for the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as they are simply too old.
