As we all know, AMD APU processing chips are seen powering most of the current gaming consoles, from Sony PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox Series X/S and also a number of portable PC consoles that are currently on the market.
Recently, there have been new rumors that AMD is developing another new APU that is expected to power Sony and Microsoft consoles in the future, called AMD Zen 6 Magnus.
This information was leaked by the leading computer component technology YouTube channel Moore’s Law Is Dead and they say that the processing chip will come with a combination of AMD Zen 6 CPU chips that will be introduced later, along with a graphics processing chip that has not been revealed yet.
Moore’s Law Is Dead further says that the CPU will come with 11 cores which is a combination of three Zen 6 cores and eight Zen 6 C cores, which can be seen as AMD’s efficiency cores.
However, another computer component leaker, Kelper_L2 at X, says that there is also a possibility that the CPU shown will be used to power the upcoming Xbox console.
This could be true because the codenames used for PlayStation processors typically use names from Shakespeare's works such as Oberon, which is the codename for the PlayStation 5 console, which is also the character of the Fairy King from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
In any case, the upcoming PlayStation and Xbox consoles are expected to be powered by a combination of AMD Zen 6 and possibly RDNA 4 or 5 processors when they launch.
