Around 50km of Highways in the Peninsular Are Identified as Not Having Telecommunications Coverage

The Minister of Works has now shared that around 50 kilometres of highways have been identified as not having telecommunications coverage. The highways concerned are in Peninsular Malaysia, covering several sections of the PLUS Highway, the West Coast Highway (WCE) and the East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2).

In parallel, efforts are currently being implemented together with the Ministry of Communications, to continue improving telecommunications and internet coverage on highways.

The Minister of Works said that several efforts will be initiated, including the establishment of a Special Task Force, identifying critical locations and examining the need for the installation of telecommunications infrastructure.

At the same time, the Minister of Works proposed that MCMC be involved in helping to deal with frequency interference as well as supporting the technical requirements for the implementation of the MLFF (Multi-Lane Free Flow) system on highways in the future.
