BYD Offers Full Self-Parking Feature in China – Will Be Responsible for Accidents Caused by It

BYD, a Chinese automaker, can be said to be quite fast in developing their technology, ahead of many other competitors. Most recently, they have started offering self-parking features for their vehicles, through an update to their smart self-driving system, “God’s Eye”.

This feature is offered to users in China first, and can be used regardless of location. For your information, Mercedes Benz was previously ready to offer this self-parking feature, but it was limited to the Stuttgart, Germany airport parking lot only – and required a number of additional equipment to be installed at the location.

BYD is the first to offer this self-parking technology to users of their vehicles, regardless of location, and without the need for special infrastructure outside their vehicles. Although there are several other companies offering self-parking features, it is not offered in a completely free and comprehensive form like BYD.

In fact, BYD is very confident in their technology offering, promising to cover any damage that occurs due to the use of this technology – without having to go through insurance. BYD achieves this offering through the use of a number of sensors, including lidar sensors, additional cameras, and ultrasonic sensors. This brings accuracy of up to 1 centimeter through it.

This move also puts BYD far ahead of various other manufacturers, including Tesla, which is still facing challenges in the self-parking and self-driving arena.
