Intel Lays Off Over 6,000 More Jobs in the US

Last month, Intel confirmed that it would be laying off about 15-20 percent of its global workforce starting this month. Recently, it was reported that it would be laying off over 6,000 employees in phases in the US.

The hardest hit by these cuts will be its Oregon plant. Oregon Live reported that Intel will be laying off 2,392 workers at the plant. This is quite a tall order considering that Intel has laid off around 3,000 workers from the plant this year alone.

While Intel says most of the layoffs are in management, details from documents sent to the Oregon local government show that most of the positions being cut are technical in nature.

These include module equipment technicians (325), module development engineers (302), module engineers (126), and process integration development engineers (88). That figure could be seen as almost half of the total number of jobs to be laid off.

Meanwhile, Intel will also lay off about 4,000 employees across its offices and factories in Arizona, California and Texas, but details about the layoffs are not known at this time.
