MCMC and PDRM Committed to Delivering Authentic Information to Users

The spread of fake information is likened to a parasite that can spread quickly if not curbed. This phenomenon not only inconveniences various parties but also creates an unhealthy atmosphere in the digital space in Malaysia.

Recognizing this fact, the Ministry of Communications together with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) have strengthened strategic cooperation in efforts to deliver authentic information to the public. According to the Minister of Communications, YB Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, this cooperation also includes efforts to address the challenges of communication in the digital era more effectively.

This was announced after a courtesy visit by the Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail to his office in Putrajaya yesterday. During the meeting, PDRM expressed its commitment to continue strengthening existing cooperation with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in facing the increasingly complex security challenges of today.

The main focus of this cooperation is to curb the spread of fake news and illegal content to ensure national security and ensure that the digital space remains safe for all users.
