Proton X50 Update Shows Voice Recognition in Bahasa Malaysia, Android Auto and Apple Car Play Support



Proton, Malaysia's first local carmaker, today announced an update to the Proton X50 SUV with a new look and several other new additions. The Proton X50 has become one of the favorite vehicles of Malaysians by recording the highest sales of B-segment SUVs for five consecutive years.


The 2025 Proton X50 features a refreshed exterior design with a new front grille and bumper, a more aggressive rear spoiler, four exhaust outlets, a dual-tone color scheme, and a set of textured alloy wheels with a new design.


The interior of the Proton X50 also shows an upgrade not only in terms of design, but also user comfort, with a 72-color lighting system, a floating console and seat covers made of soft and comfortable material to the touch.


The Proton X50 Facelift also now houses the inforia system with a 14.6-inch panel that now supports both the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay operating systems. Even better, the voice recognition system on the Proton X50 this time can also understand Bahasa Malaysia, which allows users to give certain commands in the national language.


Other technologies shown on the Proton X50 include support for the ADAS Level 2 system along with the Rear Side Radar System and a 360-degree camera that assists with the Blind Spot Monitoring system on the sides of the car and features.


In terms of performance, the Proton X50 is powered by a combination of the new i-GT 1.5 TD engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This engine can generate 133 kW of power and 290 Nm of torque and is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds.


The 2025 Proton X50 will be offered in three variants, including Executive, Premium and Flagship, where the Standard variant will no longer be offered in the color options of Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, Armour Silver and Teal Bayou Green which replaces the previous Ocean Blue color.
