The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) is now implementing a comprehensive cashless payment method at all JPJ counters nationwide. Through it, the public can make payments more easily using e-wallet applications such as Touch ‘n Go, GrabPay, MAE and Boost.
The implementation of this method began with a test phase at JPJ Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur in 2024 which showed a positive increase in the use of cashless transactions. Following this success, JPJ is expanding its implementation in phases throughout Malaysia. It also involves the activation of 1,183 units of Electronic Data Capture (EDC) terminals and the use of the M-Device application at all JPJ counters.
As of 24 August 2025, JPJ has recorded 46.5 million cashless transactions through counters and the MyJPJ application with a total collection reaching RM5.6 billion. Of this total, 245,626 transactions were made via e-wallets, involving a collection of RM19.6 million.
This figure shows a significant increase compared to the previous year, thus proving the effectiveness of implementing the cashless payment method via e-wallets.
