AYANEO Pocket DS Introduced as the First Android Console with Two Displays

The dual-screen Nintendo DS console was launched in late 2004, and sold 154 million units worldwide, introducing many children and young adults to a gaming experience that was rarely seen before.

Now the world has moved on to the Nintendo Switch 2 console, but the Nintendo DS console design is seen as iconic enough that there are companies that want to use it with more modern specifications.

The brand is AYANEO, which has just introduced its latest game console called the AYANEO Pocket DS, a dual-screen game console that runs the Android operating system and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 processor chip and has a choice of memory and storage combinations from 8GB+128GB to 16GB+1TB.

The main display at the top uses a seven-inch OLED panel with Full HD resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. The second display at the bottom uses a five-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1024×768 with a 4:3 aspect ratio, similar to what is used on the Nintendo 3DS console.

Moreover, it also comes with control buttons, commands and shoulders like a console controller, but fitted into this small frame. The console's analog control components also use TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) switches which are similar to Hall Effect switches, using magnets and promising movement input that is not only more accurate, but also promises a longer lifespan for the controller.

It also comes with a built-in 8000mAH battery that supports PowerDelivery fast charging technology, and a cooling system that uses a fan that allows this console to always operate at an optimal temperature.

AYANEO has just opened pre-orders for this Pocket DS console on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform with a starting price of RM1691 for the 8GB+128GB memory and storage specifications, up to RM2709 for the 16GB+1TB specifications.

This console will officially go on sale and also be shipped to early backers by October 2025.
